Our travels, exploits, and adventures

Road rides, Horsetooth Mountain, and other fun adventures

August 19th, 2011

Wow- its amazing how time flies.  Dondi and I have officially been in Colorado for about four weeks now.  We know how to get around Fort Collins (by car and bike), where to shop for food and all sorts of other stuff, and what to do for fun.  Well, we’re working hard on that last one. . . exploring the vast array of opportunities for fun here and its been a blast!  Check out our pics below to see what we’ve been up to this week. . .

Sunday morning ride from Full Cycle Bike Shop- we left at 8am with a group of 6 and did a beautiful 30 mile road ride

Pedestrian and bike bridge over the Cache le Poudre River just Northwest of Fort Collins

Another incredible sunset from the dining room window

After looking at the notches on Horsetooth Mountain (in the back), we decided it was time to climb it

On our way up the mountain

Dondi's brother Bob and his colleague Aaron were in Denver for business so they came to visit and did the climb with us which was a lot of fun

Getting closer. . .

We made it to the top of Horsetooth Rock. The view of Fort Collins to the East and the mountains to the West was totally worth it every step uphill! =)

Bob climbing down from Horsetooth Rock

After lunch at Coopersmith's, we took a walk through Old Town Fort Collins and chatted with a "bicycle keg-delivery guy" from Equinox Brewing Company

And to top it all off, Dondi and I were invited to the Intel annual party (thanks Matt!) and had a lot of fun learning how to play Roullette and winning (Dondi) and losing (Erin) lots of fake money on the BlackJack Table

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.  We are certainly getting acquainted here and having a lot of fun!  Don’t be afraid to leave us a comment. . . =)

Did you get to try out the keg bike? I hope you’re taking advantage of those sunsets! ;=)

    • We didn’t try out the keg bike but we talked to the guy for a while and laughed as he rode away. . . keg and all. Good time!

  2. Hi Erin & Dondi,
My husband and I are planning to move to Colorado next June and we’re planning to build and live in our Tiny House! We’re so excited! I would love the opportunity to talk to either of you in regard to your trailer length and weight of your tiny house, as we are hoping to build a 28′ tiny house. I am searching for a trailer now . . . and having a tough time finding one that is 28′ feet long. We love your home, and of all the tiny houses that we’ve seen on-line, yours is the closest to what we are thinking of building for ourselves. I work in the architectural field, so I will design our home. I would love to talk to you. If you are okay with talking on the phone, please send me an email (with phone number of course) at alaskanchild@yahoo.com.
    Thank you!!!!

    • Alaskanchild- couldn’t remember if I answered your post or not! Sorry. 😦 Anyway, 28 feet is a great length for a tiny house! Ours is 29″. We started out with an old mobile home trailer Dondi found on Craigslist, cut it down, and welded it to size. We wish you luck with finding a trailer! I’ll e-mail you with Dondi’s info. . . he’s the brains behind our tiny house construction (I just did a lot of labor). =) -Erin
