Our travels, exploits, and adventures

Assateague Island, MD to Virginia Beach, VA

July 15, 2011

This morning we woke up pretty early and packed up camp.  We drove to Chincoteague Island, explored a bit, then stopped at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility for a tour and some laughs.

After that, we had the best Mexican food we’ve ever had for lunch somewhere between Chincoteague and Virginia Beach.  We continued on and drove over the 17 mile long Chesapeake Bridge/Tunnel to get to Virginia Beach.

When we arrived in Virginia Beach, we went to First Landing State Park, got the last campsite, and got all set up for the night

Went to 'YoTini' for some delicious self-serve frozen yogurt and sorbet- YUM!

After dinner and fro-yo, we went back to the State Park and biked to the beach to catch the sunset

Apparently Dondi's intent was not just to catch the sunset, but also a sand crab or two

Could that be the 17 mile bridge in the background?

    • Sure is! I’d have to say I was scared driving over it though because I (Erin) was driving and there were tons of signs saying “keep up to speed” at 55 mph and there are trucks and trailers and two tunnels and no end in sight but it sure was beautiful!
